Looking for a Recommendation

It's raining outside.  Rain in June is a treat.  And after a long day of work and catching up on my books (ahem, Lyn - are you not so proud?) all I long to do is sit somewhere really comfortable with my windows open and read a book.  A light book.  A really light book.  Maybe one that makes me laugh.

I need a recommendation.  Kara?  I know you have a great, long list somewhere - you even gave one to me a while back.  And Allysha...you're talking about books often enough!  Kim - I already know what you are going to suggest....

All I have readily available are books that are not meant for relaxing.  It seems all I have these days are books you STUDY - not read...and even though I could delve into the intricacies of Japanese gardens, understand the theories and practices of architecture, understand my artistic self better by seeing what a doctor has to say about it, or brushing up on my Portuguese by way of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth....my brain says PLEASE NO!!!  STOP WORKING PLEEEEAAAASSSEEEEE...

So - I sit here and wish I had a light read.  Sigh -

Suggestions?

  1. I am reading Life with Jeeves by PG Wodehouse right now and it is absolutely hilarious. Early 20th century British author. Very light and nearly every paragraph makes you laugh. I highly recommend!

  4. I just re-read To Kill a Mockingbird. Not light, but amazing and easy to get through...I'll think of some more.

  5. So I've been hanging out with my 4th grade teacher of a mother lately, so... you'll excuse the reading level!

Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen (love love love this darling gem)

Richard Peck has an assortment of light, fun, but meaningful reads.
    -A Long Way to Chicago
    -A Year Down Yonder
    -The Teacher's Funeral

    to name a few.

Despite the upcoming motion picture that is bound to turn it into 'pop culture,' read the Wimpy Kid Diaries. It's like reading the best feature in the Sunday Comics condensed into a book.

    Cold Comfort Farm is hillarious!!!

I just read a kind of silly, but fun in a good way, regency romance mystery called And Only To Deceive. (Kim just read that)
