a writers mind

truly i do have a writers mind. i am always writing passages in my head throughout the day. and i think i come up with some pretty great paragraphs! however - when it comes to expressing these magnificant thoughts onto paper - they woosh!!!! are taken away from me and i am left with regular, schmegular sentance structures.
but i figure the more i practice - and the more i write (hence this blog) i figure the more natural it will come...atmosphere - it all comes down to atmosphere....and ambience

a music fast...and a new roommate

so last Saturday night i decided to go on a "music fast." i have done this one or twice before. i go one week without any music whatsoever. the purpose? to clear my mind - clear it of noise and confusion, and clutter. reason numero dois is to clean my music pallette and start from scratch. there is so much great - great music out there. quality...you know? so this practice/exercise is a bit of quality control for me. and the third reason - yes three....is to make more time and space for meditaion!
but i'll tell you what. the first few days where HARD! music withdraw yes. first thing when i get in the car is reach for the radio dial (NPR or country) and first thing i do when i get to work is bring up i-tunes.
now - having gone more than 5 days, and my mind is clearer - sharper - keener!
...however - i am excited to bring back the music come Monday. i do think it's a powerful element that is a must in life. wahoo!

i live in a brand new condo - and i just got a new roommate (aside from the 23 yr. old) she's the owner of the condo - asian - from cali and 50 years old! how's that for fun! hmmm......

time to leave the office

i like to be the first one to the office - and the last one to leave.....

my profession - -

i am a landscape designer....or rather i am one who designs landscapes. all my life i have always been interested in and practiced: art, music (piano, violin, banjo, etc.) and sports. but i have never considered myself an artist, a musician or an athlete. i am me, Lorien Alise Hall! - human being and daughter of God. i don't know why, but ever since i can remember i have made the distinction between the two.
...so let me re-write my first phrase...i design landscapes.

and today for lunch i had the most delightful stuffed pepper, made by myself even - wowee - a pure, garden-veggie delight!

lunch and nicknames

for lunch today i had or am having yellow squash, zucchini and ground beef. a typical meal for dinner in the hall house during late summer months. both vegetables are from my parents garden...so it's extra delightful. i added more than enough ketchup because there was no salt in the office.....
names that i have been called by other than Lorien: Lor, Lorflor, Loreal, Lou, Delorean, Sister Hall, Hall, Sister, Lilian, L'.....

graduation dinner! finally made it...

WD40

so....after about 53+ attempts at logging in i finally find success!
as anyone can see...it has been a while since i blogged. so naturally i forgot my log in information.
but like WD40 - or is it DW40 - my rusty mind somehow finagled it out. actually - i am not perfectly sure what WD40 is meant for. all i know is that i used it in an art project my senior year of high school in preparation for the AP art test. so what is it used for?
